Accessibility
We want koveandcanvas.com to work for everybody, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard alone, magnification, or a phone in bright sunlight.
The standard we aim for
We are working towards WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We are not claiming full conformance — claiming it without a formal audit would be dishonest — but it is the standard we design and build against.
What we have done
- Colour contrast. Every text and background pairing on the site has been checked against the WCAG contrast thresholds. Where our accent colour failed as small text, we use a darker version of it rather than dropping the requirement.
- Keyboard access. The whole site can be navigated by keyboard. Menus open on focus as well as hover, and focus outlines are visible rather than stripped out.
- Structure. Pages use real headings in order, real lists and real buttons, so screen readers can navigate by landmark instead of reading everything top to bottom.
- Text size. Text is set in relative units and reflows to 200% zoom without content being cut off or overlapping.
- Motion. Nothing auto-plays, flashes or moves in a way that could trigger discomfort.
Where we know we fall short
Being straight about this is more useful than a clean-looking statement:
- Some product images may not yet have full descriptive alternative text. We are working through the catalogue.
- Third-party content — payment providers, embedded reviews and social feeds — is outside our control and may not meet the same standard.
- Older PDFs, if we publish any, may not be fully tagged for screen readers. Ask and we will send the content in another format.
Tell us when something does not work
If any part of this site blocks you, email hello@koveandcanvas.com. Say what you were trying to do, the page you were on, and what you were using to browse. We aim to reply within one working day and to fix genuine barriers as a priority, not as a backlog item.
If you cannot complete an order on the site for any reason, email us and we will take the order for you directly.
